| Introduction: For 25 years, the dedicated housewrights and master carpenters of Historic Structures have been producing elegant, integrated solutions for some of the most significant period homes throughout the Northeast United States. We have made it a point to develop expertise in the widest range of materials in order to be able to deliver reliable, comprehensive results. Trained as an engineer, Stephen Ortado, principal of Historic Structures, considers the period building from the ground up, inclusive of the finishes, masonry, glass, metals and plaster elements. Over time, we have developed valuable working relationships with some of the most accomplished artisan specialists in the country. Success, we have found, can only be achieved through rigorous attention to detail and a thorough understanding of all the materials employed in the historic building. Historic Structures is pleased to work with clients conserving, restoring or reproducing period styles from the early eighteenth century to the early twentieth. We believe that the most efficient designs for satisfactory historic preservation are a combination of the intent of our client and that of the original builder. We are prepared to produce sound, reliable work from old photographs, client drawings and even from salvaged historic fragments. Our experience and commitment to these important historic structures can help to assure a satisfactory result for your project as it has for so many others. We are glad to hear about your significant historic restoration or reproduction project: |
