Fixtures, Inc.
(Period Lighting)
Clarksburg, MA 01247 413.664.7141
Period Lighting Fixtures produces handmade reproductions of Early American lighting from the candle and oil periods, spanning 1620–1850. Founded in 1974, the firm has pursued original research through museums, archives, and historic sites, including the Smithsonian Institution, Historic Deerfield, and Old Sturbridge Village. Designs are faithful line-for-line reproductions, proportioned to historic precedent and intentionally understated. Fixtures are fabricated entirely by hand using traditional methods, with concealed wiring, hand-dipped wax candle covers, and hand-forged iron and wood-turned components. Lanterns for exterior use are formed from heavy solid copper with full-length soldered seams and historically accurate patination. Finishes are formulated to replicate centuries of age, producing fixtures that integrate naturally into historic interiors, restorations, and period-sensitive new construction for residences, museums, civic buildings, and architecturally significant institutional settings across varied historic contexts.
