FEATURED PROJECT
Building Heritage

In the Spring of 2009, Building Heritage undertook the restoration of the Martin bridge of Marshfield, VT. Built c. 1880 by a barn builder named Herman Townsend, this 45 foot long queenpost truss bridge was used exclusively for the transport of hay and farm equipment from one side of the upper Winooski River to the other. It is likely to be one of the last agricultural covered bridges in Vermont, and was given to the Town of Marshfield along with approximately 70 acres in 2004.

Timeless Barn Company
Timeless Barn Company

Timeless Barn Company™specializes in adapting, reclaiming, repurposing, and restoring vintage barns into amazing personal and commercial spaces. Our company began nearly 20 years ago with a single barn. It was taken down, timber by timber, and moved to its new location where it became an amazing home. The company was created, and dismantling, restoring, and re-erecting pre-Civil War barns and turning them into homes became our passion. We have also expanded our product lines to include not only custom timber framing but basic packages such as our Colonial Saltbox Home, as well as furniture, flooring, and fireplace mantels. It is a great day when you walk into a well-preserved masterpiece that was built 180 years ago, and know that you have found something really special. Pristine original structures are the ultimate find and they make wonderful homes, commercial buildings, wineries, and studios. Suffice it to say...just about anything you can imagine, we can build.....and it all begins with a barn.

Historic Plaster Conservation Services (HPCS) was founded in 1988 to pursue opportunities in the very specific field of architectural plaster conservation. We address and repair the structural problems of fragile plaster in historic buildings. Applied as a preventive maintenance procedure, our products economically extend the safe and maintenance-free service life of historic plaster ceilings – avoiding the tragedy of collapse and the huge expense of reconstruction. In short, we preserve original plaster. Leading preservation architects and heritage consultants specify the HPCS approach in restorations where important plaster is at risk. Our goal is to work with clients who value the original building fabric for which they are responsible and who wish to retain this fabric with the lowest possible level of disruption and cost.

Re-View

Re-View came together back in 1993 when a group of associates in the window industry recognized there was a void in the historic window industry. The only players in the business were small, regional millwork shops with a dozen employees and less than 10,000 square feet of space. The large corporate window manufacturers had no interest in entering this specialty market niche because it contradicted their efforts for standardization. There seemed to be an immense opportunity for a company to engage in this industry in a professional manner with the right people, systems, equipment, and facilities.

Over the past 25 years, the owners of Re-View have worked with some of the largest window manufacturers in the United States in the aluminum, wood, and vinyl window sectors. This extensive background combined with our historic window restoration and manufacturing work, gives Re-View a unique perspective in the window business.

Over the past ten years, Re-View has grown from a small job shop to one of the largest manufacturers and restorers of historic wood and steel windows in the United States.
